Dog Days ("the App") is developed by Michael Ginsberg. This privacy policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.
Photo Library Access
Dog Days requests access to your photo library to scan images from the last 12 months for dog photos. All image analysis is performed entirely on your device using Apple Vision or a YOLO machine learning model. Your photos are never uploaded, transmitted, or stored on any server.
Location Data
If you choose to join the leaderboard, the App requests your approximate location using your device's GPS. Your coordinates are immediately converted on-device into city, state, and country using Apple's geocoding service. Only the city, state, and country text are sent to our server — raw GPS coordinates are never transmitted or stored.
Leaderboard Data (Optional)
If you opt in to the leaderboard, we collect and store the following on our server:
Information We Do NOT Collect
Dog Days does not collect your name, email address, phone number, Apple ID, actual device identifiers, IP address (beyond what is incidentally present in standard web requests), photos, browsing history, contacts, or any other personal information.
Photo library access is used solely to scan for dog photos and display results within the App. Location data is used solely to populate leaderboard filters (country, state, city) so users can compare scores regionally. Scan statistics are used solely to rank participants on the leaderboard.
Leaderboard data is stored on a secure server hosted by Hostinger. Communication between the App and our server uses HTTPS encryption. Access to the server API requires a private API key. We implement rate limiting to prevent abuse.
On-device data (scan history, settings, and your device token) is stored locally using iOS UserDefaults and does not sync to any cloud service.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third parties. Leaderboard data (username, city, state, country, and scan statistics) is visible to other Dog Days users on the public leaderboard. Your device token is never displayed publicly.
We do not share any data with third-party advertising networks, analytics services, or AI services.
Photo Library: You can revoke photo library access at any time in iOS Settings > Dog Days > Photos. The App will not be able to scan without this permission.
Location: You can revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings > Dog Days > Location. This only affects leaderboard registration — core scanning functionality does not require location.
Leaderboard: Joining the leaderboard is entirely optional. The App's core scanning and history features work without it. If you do not register a username, no data is sent to our server.
Leaderboard data is retained for as long as the service is active. If you wish to have your leaderboard data removed, please contact us at the email below and we will delete your account and associated scan data.
Dog Days is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
